About Patrick
Do you feel like you have run into a bit of a wall trying to navigate challenges in your life? Are you wondering how to improve your mood or lessen your anxiety when talk therapy hasn’t always worked for you? Are you looking for a possible alternative or supplement to depression, anxiety or ADHD medication? I am here to work with you in exploring, accepting and navigating such obstacles.
I specialize in working with pre-teens, adolescents, and young adults, and have done so for over 14 years as a teacher and mental health practitioner in Harlem, NY and Washington, DC. I studied at Syracuse University and Catholic University, and hold masters degrees in social work (MSW) and childhood education (MST). This experience has given me a tremendous amount of insight into the challenges that young people face in today’s world and today’s academic settings. I have worked to support middle schoolers, high schoolers, college students and adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, autism spectrum disorder, and more. I offer a relatable approach and one centered on working with clients to help them reach goals they identify.
Oftentimes, we have strengths we don’t recognize that have gotten us through challenges in the past, and in taking a strengths based approach, I explore this with clients. I offer traditional talk therapy, rooted in cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral approaches, but also know that this isn’t for everyone. One size and one approach doesn’t fit all when it comes to your mental health. If you are wondering if therapy is right for you, it doesn’t have to be a couch, chair and four walls, though that is an option. I have seen firsthand the positive impact that movement based activities and exercise have had on the mental health of my clients. If you feel like you may benefit from not only traditional therapy, but a more active approach as well, please reach out!
Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family, travel, cook, enjoy the outdoors with my dog, and play and watch sports.
