About Albena
As a foreign-born immigrant from Bulgaria, I work especially well with people from collectivistic cultures like my own. If you desire a transformation in life, I offer supportive skills balanced with motivational and collaborative techniques aimed at identifying patterns that keep you from being your best self. I offer a fresh take on therapy that balances evidence-based strategies with grounding mind/body approaches. You may be invited to explore a difficult topic that could take you outside of your comfort zone, but I consider this a significant part of our work together, and the aim of furthering your personal growth and well-being.
If you’re ready to explore new ways of being and feeling in the world, I’ll meet you with warmth, knowledge, and depth as we journey into matters important to you. I will help you find the reprieve, validation, and sustainable healthy life you deserve.
Beyond therapy, I’ve contributed toward creating the current substance abuse curriculum and policy for the Department of Health and Human Services/Child Welfare as part of family preservation initiatives. When not working, I enjoy keeping up with my blog, traveling to new places, discovering gluten-free bakeries in the city, and attending comedy venues. I look forward to meeting you and learning about your roots!
